As you know, I really enjoy drawing my favorite characters during my doodling downtime (pictured above are the Merida drawings from my last post, and a drawing of Harry protecting Sirius from dementors as per this blog post).

Copic on Copic
Printed what was just a iPhone pic of some line art and then filled in with Copic’s and rescanned as a colour image. A drawing within a drawing….. TRIPPY. pretty impressed with the lack of bleeding from the printer.
test run with the new hotness….. was originally just a quick doodle with a lot of loose lines that were filled in with a sharpie i was using to label moving boxes. Copics and white Sharpie poster paint markers.
So I’m still not a fan of inking my work digitally…. however I do like LOVE what can be done with separate layers. Laid down pencils, “attempted” to ink, Airbrush for droplets in the background and another for Copics to create highlights. I made a custom brush for the inks, it did alright but could use some tweaking still. Gonna Frankenstein it up with the brush creator.

Testing colours with separate layers…. the full image is still a WIP but i think i will keep the image b/w digitally inking (i’m gonna give it a go again :| ) and edit the layers colour and then uses Copics to add highlights with Sketchbook Pro ‘11. all digital all day err day. is it me or am i channeling some Silvestri and Lee? weird neither are big influences of mine

A quick iPhone snap of what I’m working on. Using a lot more shadow than I normally use and copics C1, C3 and C5 Magneto represents and damn do I love Kirby dots I think I might just draw them from now on

New app called paper 53 for iPad that i just read about and decided to give it a go. the free version only has a pen, 9 colours and an eraser…….. 5 minutes in I kinda like it but is each tool worth a buck 99?! regardless I want to give the water colours a try

Drawing on paper is still the BEST! This is only the second time I’ve drawn Green Lantern again with no reference so apologies if there are costume errors. In total an hour and a half and some Copics bring Hal to life. Scanned before it goes and lives with my brother from another mother
